Synopsis
On 5th July 1977, aspiring actress Ara has an audition for a big film, and her housemaid Rukhsana has teaching her how to dance for it. The role practically belongs to Ara - until the director sees Rukhsana dance. Set against the backdrop of Zia-ul-Haq's oncoming Martial rule, Raqs offers the freedom of self-expression as the antidote to fearful rhetoric.
